Pinc Power - Devotional #5 - "The Patience Test "
“…Let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.” James 1:4
Sometimes, life brings different kinds of struggles. One of the things that has always been hare for me to deal with is patience. When I feel something or want something really bad, waiting for it is SO HARD! There have even been times that God has showed me something so great that He had for me but not until a later time and patience was my only option. If you are like me, you understand the frustration of being patient, but I have learned something very valuable- patience is often a test for us and if we don’t “pass the test” we just have to keep taking it!
Often, I believe that God has to prepare us for that thing we want so much, and teaching us patience forces us to trust and rely on Him even more. So, fighting God’s will or perfect timing about things by being impatient and dwelling in it, will only be an open door for Satan to get the best of your attitude, but CHOOSING patience (and it is definitely a choice!) will allow God to see that you are actually trusting Him and that you are ready for whatever lies ahead.
I challenge you to do as I have learned (and still have to do a lot) and that is to pray for God to help you choose patience every day in every situation so that your days will be easier until you get there and you will also be a wonderful example to others as they watch you make this choice, despite how hard it may be. The real issue comes down to trusting someone else to give you what you want instead of doing it yourself, but not just anyone, Jesus Christ himself! Open your heart today for God to work out patience in you so that you will ‘pass the patience test’.
